Extra Curricular Classes
When they come to Hamifal’s Children’s Villages, most of the children have big learning gaps, lack of knowledge in basic skills, and disadvantaged learning abilities. The ordinary schools, which the children attend, do not have the time, nor do they have the tools and the ability to create a special education framework needed to advance them. These children urgently need tutorial classes at least twice a week (about 10 monthly hours), in order to keep them in regular curriculum schools adequate to their intellectual potential, and not to refer them to special education schools.
This situation obligates us to put together an intensive and a supportive after school program in Hebrew language and other basic subjects as needed, so that the child would be able to narrow these gaps and integrate successfully at school. Preparing homework with tutors allows the children to develop their confidence and self esteem and ensure their participation in morning classes.
The average costs for Tutorial After School Lessons per child are:
10 Hours per month X 60 NIS (~$15) = 600 NIS (~$150)
600 NIS (~$150) X 10 months = 6,000 NIS (~$1500) per child, per year
